Thursday 12 March 2020

TAQA a UK subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, has submitted a draft plan for the removal of the derrick structure as well as the modular drill rig installation on the Cormorant Alpha platform to be considered by the UK authorities.

The platform is located in Block 211/26a in the Northern North Sea, some 103 kilometres northeast of Shetland and 41 kilometres west of the UK-Norway median line.

According to the plan, the drilling derrick has been idle since 2007. The modular drilling rig was the only viable option to meet requirements for the current forecasted cessation production date.
