Borkum Riffgrund 2 OSS Jacket In Place

The jacket foundation for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore substation was installed at the offshore construction site on 19 July.
The jacket construction was shipped from the production site in the Dutch town of Schiedam to the offshore wind farm site on 14 July, and the installation started in on 17 July.
DONG Energy plans to install the topside in the first quarter of 2018.
The developer awarded the contract for the transport and installation of the offshore substation to to Heerema Marine Contractors in 2016. The company is charge of the transport and installation of the substation’s jacket, piles and topside for the German offshore wind farm.
The EPC contract for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore substation was awarded to HSM Offshore, which contracted Iv-Oil & Gas for the engineering and procurement of the substation.
Iv-Oil & Gas is handling the detailed engineering and procurement of the utility systems for the topside, while Iv-Consult is producing the shop drawings for both jacket and topside.
The 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 is located approximately 57km off the north-west coast of Germany, next to the 312MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm. The wind farm will consist of 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines.
Full commissioning of the project is expected to take place in 2019.
